Are Apples Bad For Dogs ?

Seeds in apples might be very dangerous when given to dogs. Apple seeds might contain amydglin, which is nothing but a form of the poisonous cyanide that actually prevents the supply of oxygen in the blood to various parts of the body eventually leading to its death. The cyanide part in the seed is within its covering, and if it is not broken, then the dog is at no harm. And, a few seeds of apple will not do any harm as the body of the dog will detoxify itself. However, large quantities of apple seeds could inflict major damage or even lead to the death of the dog.
Hence, when giving apples to dogs, it is always better to core the apples first, and cut them into small pieces so that the dogs could bite them.
Dogs feeding on apples, which have less saturated fat and sodium, get to receive a lot of dietary fiber and vitamins such as vitamin C. Purebred dogs and large dogs in particular will be able to better fight dysplasia with vitamin C. The presence of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids also adds gloss to the dog’s coat, and helps in fighting skin diseases.
However, the calories in apples, though natural, could make the dog put on weight. And, if the dog has kidney related disorders, then apples should be avoided as these contain calcium and phosphorous and omega-6 acids that could be harmful.
Similarly, a dog suffering from arthritis should not be given apples as the omega-6 acids could cause inflammation. Also, giving the dog too many apples to eat might lead to diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
