Landlords Inspection List
Every landlord is supposed to have a checklist of things to do while a tenant is vacating. More importantly the landlord also needs to have a checklist before the tenant moves in. It becomes easy for a person to cross check both the lists and make sure that everything is according to the landlord’s wishes. |
It is impossible to check for faults in the house when the tenant is ready to move out. There are several things to include in the checklist when a tenant is moving out.
Check for faucets, bathroom fittings, and other fittings like curtain rods which can be dismantled and taken away. Things should be left as they were and some things do not get spoilt through wear and tear. Paint on the walls can be spared as the walls tend to look dirty after a certain point of time.
Appliances like refrigerator and dishwasher or microwave including the stove, burners on the stove need to be checked. Everything should be in a working condition.
Light bulbs should be left in a working condition and if not, they should be replaced by the tenants before they leave.
Carpets, if dirty, need to be replaced because typically carpets should not be left dirty by the tenant.
Check the garage and the basement if present and make sure that everything has been left as it is including the wiring. The walls need to be checked for damages too. If there is anything in particular or any object that you provided to the tenant before they moved in, make sure those objects are still present.
